This residence, positioned on a pier extending towards the calm surface of the lake, stands out with its strong connection to nature. The building has been designed with a respect for its natural surroundings; its interaction with water goes beyond physical contact, transforming into a spatial experience.
*Designed as a concept project within the scope of undergraduate studies.
The residential module design within a campus consisting of a restaurant, laboratory, fishing dock, and residential units, designed through group work, emphasizes simplicity and naturalness.
During the design process, open terraces that align with the rhythm of the lake, large glass surfaces, and volumes that bring the reflection of the water inside form the essence of the space. By creating a sense of water contact from every corner of the building, the boundaries between the interior and exterior spaces have been blurred.
Natural textures are prioritized in the design. Light-toned solid wood surfaces are combined with minimalist details, while the use of micro-concrete floors in certain areas creates a simple yet strong ground language. These material choices contribute to the formation of a warm atmosphere alongside simplicity.
The overall character of the materials is based on an unrefined naturalness. The surfaces embrace a calm and timeless language rather than being glossy and flashy. This approach allows the project to achieve an architectural language that doesn’t compete with its surroundings, but rather exists in harmony with them.
This structure, gracefully placed on the surface of the lake, aims to blend seamlessly with nature through its entirely wooden framework. The house, built on a pier, is designed to harmonize with the tranquility of the water. The natural wood texture, used both in the supporting system and in the façade and interior spaces, creates a warm, intimate, and timeless atmosphere.
